Venss Kirklends Poster

Venss Kirklends: The poster for the Latvian Kirkland retrospective includes a close-up of Vance Kirkland’s hand at work, with three inset abstract paintings. With Latvian text and printed in vibrant colors on heavy-duty stock, it measures 16 x 23 inches.

Vance Kirkland developed a unique technique of mixing his oil paints with water and applying these thin layers of paints to a flat canvas. The technique allowed him to use some of his watercolor expertise with oil paint and create canvasses in which vibrant colors glow from the lower layers of paint through the layers above.
