The building, designed by Jim Olson of Seattle-based Olson Kundig, offers visitors an enhanced experience with ample display space while staying true to the salon style and intimate atmosphere for which the Kirkland is known. The museum’s three collections are International Decorative Art, Colorado & Regional Art and a Vance Kirkland (1904–1981) Retrospective.
